New Throw-back

My newest piece of apparel...if you can even call it that!  More like newest piece of awesome-ness!  Oh, but I purchased this little Billabong number in black—so much fancier and madonna-esque.  I plan on pairing it with a couple of skinny, long gold necklaces, rouge lips, and a pair of daisy dukes.

PS-Sorry I have been m.i.a. lately, my computer is on the fritz, and Apple is finally taking care of it.  Hopefully soon I will be up and running more regularly.  For now, I am stuck using a (gulp!) PC.

Lost Type Co.

I can never seem to get enough vintage-inspired fonts into my library, and thanks to Lost Type Co. my collection is steadily growing!  There are so many amazing typographers out there, and I can't express how much I appreciate them giving out their beautiful designs for free!

Go to Lost Type Co. to download them.  Simply type "0" in the amount for free downloading.

My faves included Nelma by Missy Austin, Muncie as well as Governor by Riley Cran, and Ranger by Evan Huwa.  Also, check out Pompadour Numerals by Andy Mangold

Designer du Jour

Russian graphic designer and illustrator Iv Orlov is a wildly popular magazine illustrator; his work has been featured in Mens Health, Glamour, InFlight Review, CFO Magazine, and many more.

I stumbled onto his work in the wee hours this morning and had to share it with you! I absolutely love these illustrations. They look like they were inspired by the Brady Bunch and the Pink Panther with a tad of swedish modern design and a hint of California glam thrown in.  I know these prints make me want to toss on a pair of platforms, a billowy top, and some insanely huge sunglasses, then crank up the Earth, Wind, & Fire!  (yes, EW&F...they still rock my world)  Anyways, Iv Orlov's work truly exemplifies simplicity of form, and for that, I adore him.

The Kitschy Kitchen

When it comes to home accessories, I always find my favorites in the kitchen section.  This might be due to the fact that I am a Martha Stewart – Food Network – Williams Sonoma – Crate and Barrel junkie...or it just might be the fact that there are tons of quirky (and kitschy) items to choose from!  Here are a few of my top picks!
  1. Apple-shaped cutting board from MarthaStewart
  2. Heart-shaped measuring cups from FredFlare
  3. Mustache Man corkscrew from ModCloth
  4. Labeled jars (from Terrain, which is like a mix between Pottery Barn and Anthropologie!)

Leather Mini Dress

AHHHHH!  (that feels good...)

Mid-Century Modernism

The most amazing architecture sits in Palm Springs! Think Don the Beach-Comber mixed with Frank Lloyd Wright, throw in a little Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby's old Hollywood glamour (ok, a LOT of old Hollywood glamour) and a hint of the Brady Bunch. That should give you a good idea....

Visit Palm Springs Modern Committee for more details and architectural tours.
