New Lately

Today I thought I'd share a few projects from my home and my work that have come together in the past few weeks!

First, I had my husband split a huge bookshelf into two – the top half is now a little vanity in our guest room with plenty of storage underneath for all our books, files, and nick-knacks (see first image).  All it took was some sanding, priming, painting, and a tension rod to hold the striped curtains I whipped up, all for around $15.  The bottom half is still in the works...shoe shelf/bench to come!

Next, baking home-made breads and buns is a skill I've been wanting to learn for years.  My grandma Quiring is famous for her "gramma buns" (as kids, all of the cousins couldn't wait to get our hands on them!), and my husband's grandpa baked up a mean sugar cream pie–award winning at the National Pie Championships this year!  Check out Wick's Pies, sold in groceries across the U.S.  Someday I'll live up to my familys' famous baking traditions...someday!

Lastly, I had a chance to work with Jean at Soap Revolt, an all natural soap and body product company.  I designed the label templates for her to use on an array of her product line (which includes black tea & lemon soap, lavender lotion, and java mint sugar scrub, just to name a few).

As a thank-you, Jean sent over a stash of soaps, lotions, and lip balms which I absolutely adore!  They smell delicious and feel great on my dry (sometimes scaly) skin.  The lotions are in "bar" form, making them easy to swipe over my arms and legs in a matter of seconds; plus the cute tins travel really well and are refillable in her online store.  These would make perfect gifts for grads, bridal showers, and birthdays, and with products starting at a mere $5, it is easy to try every scent in her collection!

xoxo,
Mitz
